MOREINU RABBI AND REBBETZIN SHURKIN

It is a mesorah that began with his father, Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Shurkin zt”l, a renowned talmid muvhak of both the Chofetz Chaim and Rav Naftali Trop. It continued when Rabbi Michel Shurkin joins the founders of Yeshivas Beis Hatalmud, being a close talmid Rav Leib Malin zt”l, who himself was a talmid of Rav Yerucham and the Brisker Rav.

Rav Michel went on to become one of the closest talmidim of the Posek Hador, Rav Moshe Feinstein zt”l, who loved him as a son and taught him for over twenty years, taking him on as a nearest and dearest. At the same time, Rav Shurkin was learning by Rav Yoshe Ber Soloveichik, craving over the shiurim with a fundamental dedication and becoming one of the foremost transmitters of Rav Yoshe Ber’s Torah to an entire generation through both his shiurim and the world renowned 'Harerei Kedem'.

With his move to Eretz Yisrael, Rav Shurkin became close talmid of Rav Moshe Shmuel Shapira zt”l, learning with him for another twenty years.

For 70 years, Rav Shurkin has imbibed the mesorah from the greatest gedolim of our times. It’s a mesorah of dedication, love, and genuine excitement for limud haTorah – and one that Rav Shurkin has, in turn, transmitted to thousands of his own loving talmidim spread across the world: the pure joy and passion for learning.
